Arrrrrrrgh!! Ahoy Mateys, Gasparilla is coming January 30, 2010!!! Be a part of the flotilla and reserve your space now! Gasparilla, an annual event inspired by the legendary pirate Jose' Gaspar, dates back to 1904 when a social editor of the Tampa Tribune along with Tampa's social and civic leaders adopted Jose' Gaspar as the central theme for the city's celebration. It became an annual event and has been celebrated every year since (for all but 4 years) since 1904. Motley krewes of pirates invade the City of Tampa aboard the "Jose Garparilla" along with numerous other "pirate ships" flanked by hundreds of pleasure boats of all sizes. It is certainly a sight to behold and to be a part of it will be a day to remember! (More Gasparilla photos) The Jose' Garparilla departs at approximately 11:30am from a marina along Bayshore Blvd, crosses Hillsborough Bay and makes its way up Seddon
Charter Event Details: Departure will be at 9:00am from the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina. We will join the activities near the Tampa Yacht & Country Club as the "Jose' Gasparilla" is boarded and prepared to set sail at 11:30am. The boat will be stocked with plenty of beads for your throwing pleasure. Once the Jose' Gasparilla departs its moorings, we will make our way across Hillsborough Bay and up Seddon channel toward downtown Tampa where the pirates will capture the city at the Tampa Convention Center. After lunch, we will return to the Marriott marina at approximately 2:00pm. From there, you will have plenty of time to take a short walk over to the parade route (parade ends at Cass Street & Ashley Street). See event map. Your adventure includes lunch, snacks and complimentary beverages (beer, soda, water, and juice). There will be coolers available if you wish to bring your own favorite beverages. All for only $500.00 per person or $2,500.00 (up to six (6) people). Space is limited so book today!
